Alamance County 4-H County Council

County Council is the teen officer team for Alamance 4-H. Youth in grades 8-12 are eligible to apply to be a County Council officer. There are 5 positions- President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Reporter, and Membership Engagement Officer. The County Council officers are the face of Alamance 4-H. Officers are responsible for planning County Activity Day, Achievement Night, and other county 4-H programs throughout the year. Officers will assist the 4-H Agent in making decisions and planning events.

More About Each Officer Position

President- The President is the head of the County Council. They preside over meetings, in such a manner that all members feel free to take part. The President created agendas, delegates tasks, and works with other officers during Council activities. 

Vice President- The Vice President runs the meetings in the absence of the President. They often serve as the chairperson of committees, helps coordinate programs and works as a team with other officers.

Secretary/Treasurer- The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for taking accurate notes at each Council meeting. They should send the meeting notes, or minutes, to the 4-H Agent to share with appropriate 4-H advisors. They are also responsible for tracking funds, debits and credits, for the Council. This Includes writing checks as needed, providing fundraising reports, and submitting end-of-year reports. 

Reporter- The Reporter is responsible for attending 4-H programs and activities outside of the Council team and reporting back to the county. This may Include taking pictures, sharing on social media, creating flyers, and drafting newspaper articles. 

Membership Engagement Officer- As a new position, the Member Engagement Officer is responsible for designing fun and creative ways to recruit and retain members, understand the need of members, celebrate member success, both big and small. The Member Engagement Officer will also be responsible for working with other officers to develop service projects and outreach opportunities.
